The Gen Art Film Festival was founded to elevate emerging filmmakers into the next stage of their career. With a unique format that only showcases one short and one feature each night, a premiere at Gen Art means the spotlight will shine exclusively on your film for the entire evening. This festival is an opportunity for you to significantly raise your profile by sharing your film with a powerful audience - gaining crucial media attention and strengthening industry relations.

Celebrating its 17th year in 2012, Gen Art has hosted New York premieres for a vast array of emerging filmmakers who have gone on to become some of the strongest voices in independent film today. In 2011 alone, five Gen Art alumni filmmakers had features at Sundance, one of which took home the Grand Jury Prize for US Dramatic Competition (Drake Doremus, Like Crazy).

Like Crazy is being released in Fall 2011, as well as Archie's Final Project and Tanner Hall, both winners of the Grand Jury Award at Gen Art. Tanner Hall also won the Stargazer Award for Rooney Mara, well before the buzz she generated in The Social Network and her upcoming The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

For short filmmakers, the Gen Art experience can't be beat. Each short film shares the red carpet experience and is presented exclusively in front of that night's feature. This unique opportunity allows us to highlight these filmmakers with the same concentrated focus that the features receive, and many of the short films showcased at Gen Art have gone on to win or be nominated for Student Academy Awards.

But aside from all that, The Gen Art Film Festival is a downright good time. Countless filmmakers point out Gen Art as one of their most exhilarating and memorable stops on the festival circuit. The non-stop action as premieres and parties roll out over the course of the week creates a feeling of excitement that will stay with you for years to come.
